A Beginning

Two years ago, we gathered here to celebrate the opening of something that began as an idea, a dream, and a leap of faith.

I still remember the day we first discovered The Shed in Port Royal. Not long after, we made the decision to relocate Perrin Woodworking. We knew immediately that this space could become more than just a woodworking studio. It could become a home for our craft, a place to showcase our custom creations, and a place to honor the makers, artists, and traditions that have inspired us throughout our journey.

What we couldn’t fully know then was how deeply this community would embrace that vision—and ultimately help shape it into something even greater.

What We’ve Built Together

Over the last two years, this space has become exactly what we hoped it would be—and so much more.

It has become a gathering place where friendships have formed, ideas have been shared, collaborations have begun, and neighbors have become friends. Every project completed, every conversation exchanged, every event hosted, and every person who has walked through these doors has left a mark on this place.

We are deeply grateful to our family, friends, customers, collaborators, fellow makers, and community members who have supported us from the very beginning and continue to support us today.

The Gallery Gals

Now, while we won’t name everyone who has supported us along the way—we’d be here until next year—we would be remiss not to recognize a very special part of the Windhorse family: our “Gallery Gals.”

Libby, our OG Gallery Manager, thank you for believing in us from the very beginning and helping bring this vision to life.

To Nicole, Kari, Tori, and our dearly missed Lydia—thank you for your energy, creativity, laughter, and heart. Each of you has helped shape the warmth and sense of belonging that defines Windhorse today.

Wine, Vision & The Windhorse Way

We were thrilled to welcome our guest of honor, Kellie Holmes, our beloved Windhorse Wine Guru.

From the earliest conversations about thoughtfully made wines to pop-ups in unfinished spaces and pouring at Street Music on Paris Avenue with Felicity, our horse trailer, Kellie helped transform a small idea into something extraordinary.

What began as a dream of a tiny curated wine shop has grown into a robust program of nearly 400 bottles, weekly tastings, and a thriving community of wine lovers.

Though Kellie has since moved on to her next chapter at Stems & Skins, her influence remains deeply woven into what we call the Windhorse Way.

Their skill, dedication, and creativity shaped not only our work, but the path that led us here. Though the shop has evolved, their contributions remain part of this story.

And now, the one person without whom none of this would exist.

My partner in life, my partner in business, and my favorite maker—Dan Perrin.

From the beginning, Dan believed in this vision. More importantly, he believed in me. Through every challenge, every leap of faith, and every success, he has been right beside me.

In Memory of Liz Entwistle

There is one more person we must honor.

From the very beginning—gathering with us on the front porch during our Grand Opening—Liz Entwistle was one of Windhorse’s greatest champions.

Her joy, curiosity, and generosity of spirit made her a beloved presence at nearly every gathering. She showed up fully, with warmth, humor, and an unmistakable love for community.

Liz’s light shone brightly wherever she went.

During our anniversary celebration, we paused to honor her memory and presented a Luna hibiscus, now planted at the entrance of the gallery as a living tribute that will bloom in her honor season after season.

“She reminded us that community is built one moment, one connection, one kindness at a time.”

We dedicate this day to her memory—with gratitude, love, and a toast to a life so beautifully lived.
