Job Title: Part-Time Gallery Assistant
Location: Windhorse Gallery @ The Shed
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented Part-Time Gallery Assistant to join our team! As a Gallery Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the gallery & wine shop, providing exceptional customer service, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring the gallery is clean, organized, and welcoming for visitors. Key Responsibilities:
Visitor Services: Greet customers and provide a warm and welcoming experience, offering assistance with gallery exhibits, sales, and event information.
Customer Inquiries: Answer visitor questions in a professional and knowledgeable manner regarding artwork, artists, wine, events, and other gallery-related inquiries.
Daily Operations: Assist with opening and closing the gallery, ensuring a smooth operational flow.
Inventory Management: Help with tracking and organizing inventory, ensuring all artworks are properly labeled and displayed.
Administrative Support: Perform various administrative duties, including maintaining customer records, handling emails, and managing sales transactions.
Gallery Maintenance: Keep the gallery clean, organized, and visually appealing, ensuring that all displays are in excellent condition.
Sales Support: Assist in processing sales transactions, packaging artwork for customers, and ensuring accurate inventory records.
Event Assistance: Help prepare for and support gallery events, exhibitions, and special activities.
General Office Tasks: Provide additional administrative support, including data entry, scheduling, and other tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and artists, both in person and via email or phone.
Organizational Skills: Highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks at once, and ensure that deadlines are met.
Ability to Work Independently: Capable of managing your own workload with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
Passion for the Arts: A genuine passion for the arts, coupled with a strong eye for design and an appreciation for various art forms, is preferred. A solid understanding of art processes is a plus, as is the ability to continuously learn and adapt to new artistic trends and techniques.
Basic Computer Skills: Comfortable with basic computer tasks such as data entry, email correspondence, and using point-of-sale systems.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize effectively, balancing administrative tasks with customer-facing responsibilities.
Creative Mindset: Ability to contribute ideas for gallery displays and events, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
Flexible & Energetic: Able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while staying upbeat and motivated.
